Motivation and the Path, November, 2020

In these days, we’re bombarded by news, household logistics, and finances (among other things) – the question may arise” how is my meditation practice fit into all of this?” In this short talk, I  consider what might bring us to the path of dharma, and how we’re motivated to stay on (or stray from) this path. This video was initially presented at Bagels and Dharma at the Philadelphia Shambhala Center.

Basic Attendance

A short talk on basic attendance, taught to our chaplaincy students at Naropa.  It is a contemplative practice of mindfulness and awareness that supports observations of physical, communicative and cognitive aspects of the client/patient as well as one’s own personal perceptions.  By engaging in this way, a greater appreciation and understanding of somatic, emotional, and environmental aspects of a pastoral encounter can be developed.  This presentation was part of a workshop for Tibetan Buddhist monastics in June, 2019.

At New Life Foundation, Chiang Rai, Thailand
In March 2019 I visited New Life Foundation in Chiang Rai, Thailand.   New Life is a residential retreat and recovery center.  While there I facilitated workshops on understanding our spiritual journey and what brings one to a contemplative path.
